Grammy-winning blues legend John Mayall has passed away at the age of 82, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in the music industry. His death was confirmed by his management on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Known as "the Godfather of British Blues," Mayall was instrumental in shaping the genre and influencing countless musicians throughout his illustrious career. He founded the legendary band John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, which served as a launchpad for some of the biggest names in blues and rock, including Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood, and Jack Bruce.

Clapton, who played guitar in the Bluesbreakers from 1965 to 1966, paid an emotional tribute to his former mentor on social media. "John Mayall was one of the pioneers of British blues, and his influence on the genre is immeasurable," Clapton wrote. "He was a great friend and mentor, and I wouldn't have gotten where I am today without his help."
