Antique, Classic, and Vintage Vehicle Registration in Pennsylvania

The use of antique, classic, and vintage registration plates in Pennsylvania is governed by Section 1340 of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code. These plates are available for vehicles that meet specific age and condition requirements.
Antique Vehicles
Antique vehicles are defined as motor vehicles (not reproductions) that were manufactured more than 25 years prior to the current year and have been preserved in their original condition.
Classic Vehicles
Classic vehicles are defined as motor vehicles that were manufactured between 20 and 25 years prior to the current year and are of special interest to collectors.
Vintage Vehicles
Vintage vehicles are defined as motor vehicles that were manufactured between 15 and 19 years prior to the current year and are of special interest to collectors.
