Important Notice for Residents and Visitors

Effective Immediately

The Village of Ruidoso has implemented additional fire restrictions due to the elevated fire danger in the region. These restrictions are in place to protect the safety of our community and prevent wildfires.

In addition to the previously implemented LEVEL II Restrictions, the following additional restrictions are now in effect:

  • All non-commercial fire pits, campfires, and fireworks are prohibited within the Village of Ruidoso.

Residents are urged to visit www.Ruidoso-NM.gov for more information on the fire restrictions and other safety measures.

Wildfire Situation in the Western United States

As of today, over 20 wildfires are burning across the western United States, consuming more than 100,000 acres. The South Fork Fire in New Mexico has already scorched significant areas, prompting evacuations and fire restrictions.

Smoke from these wildfires is affecting air quality in the Ruidoso area. Residents are advised to monitor air quality updates and take appropriate precautions.

Open Fire and Burning Restrictions

During extreme fire danger emergencies, open fire and burning restrictions may be enacted. These restrictions prohibit all outdoor fires, including campfires, bonfires, and burning of debris.

It is crucial for residents to comply with these restrictions to prevent the spread of wildfires. Violators may be subject to fines and other penalties.
